Generator Voltage restrained Over Current Protection

Voltage restrained Over Current Protection : Normal IDMT Over current is not work – when a over current fault occurs, due to higher current levels, there would be a drop in terminal voltage. For the same fault impedance, the fault current will reduce (with respect to terminal voltage) to a level below the pickup setting. Consequently normal IDMT may not pick up. It is necessary to have a relay shoes pick up setting will automatically reduce in proportion to terminal voltage. Hence the over current protection must be voltage restrained. Two levels of Over current protection is required-low set and high set (for short circuit protection). Thermal Overload: This protection is a must – it monitors the thermal status of machine for currents between 105% to the low set 0/C level (normally 150%). Current Unbalance : Generators are expected to feed unbalanced loads – whose level has to be monitored. If the unbalance load exceeds 20%, it may cause over heating of t

Environmental Compliance Plan of a Power Plant

There are four types of   Environmental Compliance Plan of a Power Plant and they are given bellow (i)         Pollutant Air Emission : We have installed reciprocating type diesel engine based power plant. Every Generator has silencer system exhaust pipe in upward direction. The pipe is about 40 feet high from the ground level and the engine exhaust escapes into air through the exhaust pipe. We will also monitor and control the oxygen level as per international standards. Therefore, the emissions could be deemed to be environmentally insignificant. (ii)        Water Requirements : We made a close circuit cooling tower based plant cooling system. About 350 m ³/hour water is required for the recycling cooling system. It is drawn from an onsite submersible deep tube well. The cooling water is recycled after cooling. Therefore a small amount of makeup water is required regularly as some water may be lost through evaporation. We also supply portable water for consumpti
