Batteries can emit explosive gases.     To reduce the possibility of personal injury, always ventilate the compartment before servicing the batteries. To remove the possibility of arching, remove the negative battery cable is first and attach the negative battery last.




When using jumper cables to start the engine make sure to connect the cables in parallel Positive to positive and negative to negative. When using external electrical source to start the engine, turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position. Remove the key before attaching the jumper cables.

One should not use volatile material for cold starting diesel generator because of the potential for an explosion.

One must keep away all flames, sparks and arcing switches from starting fluid if it is used for starting cold weather diesel generator because it is highly flammable.

Do not breathe starting fluid fumes. Starting fluid fumes can be hazardous to ones health.


One should not use excess amount of fluid for starting the diesel generator engine because huge amount of fluid damage the diesel engine.

-Disconnect the electrical wire from the fuel pump solenoid.
-Rotate the crankshaft, using the starting motor, until oil pressure appears on the gauge or the warning lamp goes out.
-Connect the electrical wire to the fuel pump solenoid valve.

-Start the engine as like as normal starting procedure

Do not depress the accelerator pedal or move the accelerator lever from the idle position while cranking the engine. This can result in engine over speed and severs damage to the engine.]






To prevent damage to the starting motor do not engage the starting motor for more than thirty seconds, wait two minutes between each attempt to start the starting motor.


Engine equipped with air starting motors require a minimum 70 psi which is recommended by manufacturer.
a.Disengage the driven unit or if equipped put the transmission in neutral. b.With the accelerator pedal or lever in the idle position turn the key switch to the ON position and wait for the wait to start lamp to go out then turn the key to the start position. c.If the engine does not start after three attempts check the fuel supply system. Absence of blue or white exhaust smoke during cranking indicates no fuel is being delivered.

The engine must be maintained in top mechanical condition if the operator is to get optimum satisfaction from its use. The maintenance department needs daily running reports from the operator to make necessary adjustments in the time allocated. The daily running report also helps to make provisions for more extensive maintenance work as the reports indicate the necessity.
